How to buy a work
Slava Fine Art handles enquiries about works in the catalogue, helps you find the information you need and puts you in touch with the seller. The purchase and payment are arranged with the seller of the individual work. There is no online checkout on this website.
If a work catches your eye, send an enquiry from its page or contact SFA. You are welcome to ask questions before deciding whether to buy.
- Tell us the title or catalogue number of the work and what you would like to know.
- We will check its availability, clarify details and find out whether additional photographs can be provided.
- Before you enter into a purchase agreement or make a payment, obtain written or electronic confirmation of the terms from the seller. This should include the seller’s name, address and contact details, a description of the work and its condition, the final price, payment and delivery arrangements, the documents supplied with the work and the returns procedure.
- Once the terms are agreed, you will receive payment instructions. It should be clear in advance who receives your payment and who issues the purchase and payment documents. Proof of payment is issued after payment has been made, in accordance with the applicable legal requirements.
You can continue to contact SFA while arranging your purchase. Details can be discussed by email or in another agreed format, with the final terms confirmed in writing or electronically.
Payment
Catalogue prices are shown in US dollars. The currency used for payment may be different. Payments within Ukraine are made in Ukrainian hryvnia, except where the law allows otherwise. For international purchases, the payment method and currency are agreed in line with the rules that apply to the transaction.
Before you commit to the purchase, the seller must confirm the final amount, payment method and any exchange rate used. Packing, shipping and other agreed charges should be listed separately or clearly identified as included in the total.
Delivery within Ukraine
Delivery options, costs and timing depend on the work’s size and handling needs, as well as its destination. The arrangements should make clear who packs and dispatches the work, how it will be protected in transit, who pays for delivery and when it is expected to leave.
The carrier, estimated delivery time, packing and shipping costs, and any available insurance must be clarified before the purchase agreement is concluded and payment is made.
International shipping
International shipping is available for all works in the catalogue. Delivery to a particular country, the route and the expected timing need to be confirmed, taking account of carrier availability and any restrictions in place.
Before you commit to a purchase, the packing, shipping costs, required paperwork and responsibility for these expenses should be agreed. Export documentation and customs clearance may take additional time.
Import taxes, customs duties or clearance fees may apply in the destination country. These depend on local rules. Any available information about these charges, and who is responsible for paying them, should be clarified before purchase.
When your work arrives
Where possible, inspect the packaging and the work when it arrives. If you notice damage or the work does not match the agreed description, let the seller and SFA know. Photographs and the original packaging can help establish what happened. If damage is visible at the time of delivery, ask the carrier’s representative to record it too.
These steps help document a problem. They do not add conditions to your legal rights.
Returns
Returns are handled by the seller of the work. Before entering into a purchase agreement, you should receive the seller’s contact details and address for enquiries, instructions for returning the work, and information about how and when refunds are made. Responsibility for return shipping costs depends on the reason for the return and the applicable law.
For distance purchases covered by Ukraine’s Law on Consumer Protection, consumers have the right to notify the seller that they wish to cancel the contract within 14 days of confirmation of the information required by law or receipt of the goods. The law also sets out how this period is calculated and the exceptions that apply. A work being an original artwork is not, by itself, a reason to refuse a return.
Claims involving damage, defects or a work that does not match its agreed description are separate from returns of works in satisfactory condition. The 14-day period above is not a general deadline for all such claims.
To request a return, contact the seller using the details provided with your purchase. You can send SFA a copy of your message so we can help with communication. International purchases are also subject to any mandatory legal protections that apply to the transaction. Agreed terms cannot limit the rights you have under applicable law.
